n8n Credential Setup Coach
Interactive n8n chat workflow with 60+ step-by-step credential connection guides: Google, AWS, databases, messaging, AI providers, and more — one simple action at a time, through a tested connection.
You bought an n8n workflow. You imported it. Then everything stopped at:
Connect your credentials.
OAuth screens changed. Redirect URLs do not match. Google opens the wrong account. A database rejects the connection. The instructions tell you to click a button that is no longer there.
Credential Setup Coach is built specifically for that frustrating moment.
Open its chat, type the service you want to connect, and follow one extremely simple action at a time—all the way through testing the connection and confirming that it works.
Try:
google sheetspostgresdeepseekawstwitterI want to set up MySQLsearch sms
No hunting through a giant manual. No coding. No unexplained jargon.
Nothing Else Is Required to Get Started
All you need to begin is somewhere to run n8n:
- n8n Cloud, or
- your own self-hosted n8n instance
Import the workflow, activate it, open the chat, and type menu.
You do not need an OpenAI key, Google account, database, AWS account, or any other paid service just to start using and exploring the coach.
You only need an account for a specific service when you decide to connect that service.
OpenAI is optional. The complete step-by-step catalog works without it. Connecting OpenAI unlocks the extra context-aware AI troubleshooting feature.
Extremely Simple by Design
The coach does not dump an entire setup article on you.
It takes you through the process like this:
- Choose the service you want to connect
- Tell it where you are starting from
- Complete one small action
- Reply
next - Continue one action at a time
- Test the connection
- Confirm that it works and track it as complete
Useful commands:
back— return to the previous instructionrestart— restart the current servicemenu— choose another credentialstatus— see what you have completedstuck— open optional contextual AI help
Real Built-In Help
If something goes wrong in the middle, type:
helpstuckI don't see itwhere is that?this screen looks differentthis didn't work
The optional AI helper receives:
- The complete instructions you were viewing
- The service you are connecting
- The actual credential type
- The current setup goal
- The relevant links and redirect information
It does not respond with a meaningless “you are on step 3.” It understands what you are actually trying to find or connect.
Before answering, it checks whether it has enough context:
- If the context is sufficient, it gives the next 1–3 beginner-friendly actions
- If something is unclear, it asks up to two focused questions instead of guessing
- If a provider changed its interface, it asks for the headings and buttons you actually see rather than inventing an outdated button
The current hosted chat is text-based. Paste the exact error, page heading, and visible button names for the best help.

What It Does Not Do
For security reasons, an n8n workflow cannot secretly create provider accounts or credentials for you.
The coach shows you exactly where to create each credential, how to enter it in n8n, and how to test or verify it.
Your secrets remain in n8n’s credential system or the provider’s interface. Never paste secret keys into public chats.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need OpenAI before I can use this?
No. All menus and deterministic step-by-step credential guides work without OpenAI. OpenAI only powers the optional context-aware troubleshooting feature.
Can it create credentials automatically?
No. Provider credentials must be created securely by you. The coach tells you exactly where to go, what to enter, and how to test it.
Does it only work with workflows from one seller?
No. A credential created in n8n can be reused in any workflow that uses the matching credential type.
What if I do not know which credential I need?
Type the service name or describe what you are trying to connect. You can also search by purpose:
search databasesearch smssearch ai
What happens if the provider changed its interface?
Type this screen looks different and describe the page heading and buttons you see. The optional AI helper is instructed not to invent current UI labels and to guide from your visible screen.
Can I send screenshots?
The current hosted chat is text-based. Paste the exact error, page heading, and visible buttons instead.
Does it test credentials?
Many major services have live smoke-test nodes. Other services use a manual verification checkpoint after setup.
Will a test send messages, modify records, or charge my account?
Tests are designed to be lightweight authentication checks where possible. Review each Test node before running it, especially when adapting the workflow.
Can I add more services?
Yes. The workflow uses a shared searchable catalog and reusable credential patterns, so builders can extend it.
Stop Letting Credential Setup Block Your Workflows
Choose a service. Follow one small action at a time. Test the connection. Confirm it works.
Then reuse that credential in any n8n workflow that needs it.
